I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends...

It is so great when the nights you least expect
end up being the most fun you've had in a while.
Whenever I get together with my close friends,
I always have such a blast doing crazy things.
I never need to worry what I look like,
or if I am acting cool enough.
I know my friends love me for who I am.
It is always stress free when I hang out with them,
and I know I am going to have a great night.

What would you think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends.

I thought this song was perfect,
because we all love singing
but we are all tone deaf.
Thanks to my friends.

The Good Ol' Oldies

There are so many times
that I wish I lived in the 50's.
The main reason is for the music.
Going to a jazz bar to listen to
Nat King Cole or Louie Armstrong
and slow dancing with my sweetheart
is my dream!
They really knew what
good music sounded like.
I blame/thank my dad for this wish of mine.

Falling...

I don't know what it is,
but I am prone to
FALLING.
All through my life,
I have had the most
embarrassing falling stories.
Tonight I was able to add to the list.
Let me explain.
I am on a
BLIND DATE
(by the way, I hate blind dates),
and the activity is going to
CLASSIC SKATING.
(Oh, and I also hate classic skating).
There are tons of people
who show up, mostly his friends,
and I know NO ONE.
Keep in mind this is a blind date.
So, I am skating along by myself
getting the hang of things,
and I see everyone in the group
talking in a big circle.
So, I want to join in and know
what is going on.
Everyone turns to see me coming,
and I put on my brakes to slow down.
Bad idea.
I completely lose my balance
and fall on my butt and
smack my head on the ground.
WOW. Suuuper cool of me right?
Oh and on the way down,
I kicked some old guy sitting on this bench.
To top it off, everyone was watching me
and no one asked if I was alright
because they felt so awkward
and no one knew me.
Oh, and this was the BEGINNING
of the suuuper awesome
BLIND DATE.
Ya, didn't go too well.
I hate blind dates.

One Day

I often think
One Day
I will be happily married.
One Day
I will have wonderful children.
One Day
I will graduate college.
One Day
my family will all be together again.
I need to focus on
Today,
and what exciting thing that can happen
Today.
Because
Today
is always the
Perfect Day
to do that one thing
I will wish for
One Day.
I need to make
Today
the Best Day.

When You Were Young

I went on a drive with my dad today
to visit his parent's graves.
The entire time he talked about the joys
of when he was young.
He talked about how playing outside
was always the choice,
and video games didn't even exist.
There were no cell phones, computers,
television was very new,
and the coolest thing
was listening to shows on the radio.
Life was simple.
There was few technology
which was even fewer cases of drama.

He continued to talk about how
the things we deal with today
are so unneeded and dumb.
It didn't matter how many friends
you had on facebook
or even how much money you had.
Life was measured by
how much joy one could have
with nothing in their possession
but close friends and family.

Sometimes I wish I could go back
to when I wasn't bothered if
the guy I like didn't text me back
or I missed my favorite tv show.
To where life was simple.
I feel that people were happier back then.

Eavesdropping in Paradise

So I made a Starbucks stop today and as I was sitting enjoying myself,
I started listening to the conversation of the girls sitting behind me.
Don't think I am a terrible person, everyone does it,
and one of the girls was suuuper loud, so how could I not?
They were talking about the funniest/strangest things.
I even started laughing to myself, because
I didn't think people even had conversations like that.
Then I started thinking....
I wonder how many people eavesdrop
on my conversations!
I mean, like I said, everyone eavesdrops.
You can't help it when they are talking loud enough
and it is an interesting conversation they are having.
I am a pretty loud talker as well, and I laugh loud too
so who wouldn't eavesdrop on my conversations?
And I wonder how many people think,
wow who even has conversations like that?

I also listened to the conversation going on
between a customer and a worker.
The customer asked how the worker's day was going,
and the worker's response was...
"Just another day in paradise!"
No sarcasm whatsoever, she really meant it.
Who says that?
I mean, seriously have I met a more positive person
in the last week? Month?
Definitely not.
She talked about how could her life not be paradise?
She has a job, she has great friends,
and wonderful people in her life.
It is a beautiful, sunny day outside.
How could it not be paradise?
I found my role model today
and it was the worker at Starbucks...
I guess eavesdropping does come in handy.

Midnight Premiere

Ever since I can remember,
I have gone to Midnight Premieres for movies.
It is the most exciting thing!
Being able to be the very first viewers for the movie
makes me feel super cool,
and the thrill of staying up late is great.
The movies are always awesome,
and buying Diet Coke and fun treats
is always great to stay awake.
I even remember in high school
when we had school the next day
we would wear t-shirts of what we were
going to see that night to school..
We would stay up for the midnight premiere
and get maybe 3 or 4 hours of sleep....
It is such a fun thing to be excited for,
and I am glad I have so many friends
who enjoy this as much as I do.

The Chillins...

While my sister, Heather was in town, I was able to have a photo shoot with the grandkids. I really have the cutest nieces and nephews. I know there are so many pictures, but I could not leave any of these out!! I love taking pictures of little kids, it really is the funnest thing.

I really think Jane is the most adorable child on the planet.

I had so much fun taking pictures of Abby. She is so photogenic, and adorable!!

Jazz Jazz Jazz

So since the Jazz have been in the play-offs,
I have been watching every game.
I know I am totally a band-wagon fan,
but the play-offs are such a fun time!!
I love going to every game,
or watching them on tv
with a bunch of friends.
Jazz parties are the best,
because everyone about
has a heart attack at each game.
HILARIOUS.
